| Wellness Policy Saint Paul Public Schools Board of Education unanimously approved Wellness Policy # 533 on May 16, 2006, during their regular Board of Education meeting. The policy was developed in accordance with a new federal law, the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization, section 204 of Public Law 108-265. Although
this was a federal requirement, they were already laying the foundation
for a wellness policy because they knew that improving the health
of students was essential for optimal learning. A
wellness policy is designed to promote students’ healthy eating,
physical activity, and other health-related support. The Wellness
Policy takes effect immediately.
